RT-W Hammond Organ

My Hammond RT-2 was manufactured in approximately 1951. The serial number is 2159. I am the third owner of the instrument. RT-2s were in production from November 1949 to January 1955. It has vibrato on either or both manuals and an additional control for "NORMAL" or "SOFT" overall volume. The finish is walnut. Both the Great and the Swell manuals have 61 keys. There is a 32-note radiating, detachable pedalboard. There are nine preset keys and two sets of nine adjustable harmonic drawbars for both manuals. For pedal sounds it has two adjustable drawbars (16' and 8' pitches) as well as a solo pedal division. One expression pedal controls the great, swell and pedal volume.

Hammonds operate with a synchronous motor to spin tone-wheels to generate the pitches for the drawbars. The mechanical system must be oiled once each quarter.

Here you can see a close-up of the drawbars, the stop controls and the 32-note pedalboard.

The tone cabinet us the Hammond Model JR-20, serial number 32859. The JR-20s were manufactured from March 1951 to February 1959. It is 29-3/4" wide. 39-3/4" high, 15-7/8" deep. The amplifier produces 20 watts. It has 4-10" bass speakers and 1-12" treble speaker. It has an oil reverb in three degrees on both channels.
